Welcoming 2021
We are now letting go of 2020, a year burdened by a pandemic that brought with it and continues to inflict never-ending human, social and economic tragedies. We discovered that we live in suspended time, and yet, this long period provided and continues to also provide us with an opportunity to find time to reflect, to take greater care of ourselves and of others, to learn to look to the future in a positive manner and find solutions for every problem or issue. Let us therefore set off in 2021 with hope and optimism, with new resolutions, with greater awareness, with civic-mindedness and respect for the environment, for nature and for animals too. Since we all share our lives with horses, let us start with them, taking better care of them, respecting and loving them with gratitude for certainly making our lives privileged ones. In the magazine, among many others, there are articles about the new rules established by the FEI General Assembly that come into force on January 1st and concern anti-doping and ‘clean sport’, interviews with show jumping and eventing champions expressing their thoughts and their visions for the future and, of course, a tribute to the ‘Black Pearl’ Totilas, one of Nature’s masterpieces and a horse that filled us with so many dreams. As in every first issue of the year since a distant 1992, Cavalli & Cavalieri is publishing the Italian Breeding Sport Horse Yearbook, which you will find attached to the magazine. This is the 30th edition of a publication that has accompanied our breeders, stud owners and all others involved, through all these years marked by an extraordinary rise in the number of Italian-bred sport horses.
