A champion in talent, for his evident elegance, intuition and a spontaneity during competitions, which allow him to become as one with his horses and execute truly spectacular performances. <\/p><\/div><\/div><div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div><p class=\"has-text-color has-very-dark-gray-color\">Lorenzo De Luca was born in Lecce (Italy)\non <strong>April 23, 1987<\/strong>. As an athlete in the \u201cCentro\nSportivo dell\u2019Areonautica Militare\u201d (<strong>Air<\/strong>\n<strong>Force\u2019s Sports Division<\/strong>), Lorenzo De Luca\nobtained <strong>second place in Longines FEI<\/strong>\n<strong>Ranking in 2017<\/strong>, the highest position achieved\nby an Italian rider. To this day, <strong>he is the only<\/strong>\n<strong>Italian rider to have competed in the Rolex<\/strong>\n<strong>IJRC Top Ten Geneva<\/strong> (2018 edition, with Ensor\nde Litrange). Lorenzo won the Rolex Rome\nGrand Prix at Piazza di Siena in 2018, riding\nScuderia 1918\u2019s <strong>Halifax van het Kluizebos<\/strong>,\na stallion who right under his saddle was\nnominated number one in the world ranking\nof the World Breeding Federation for Sport\nHorses in 2017. In that same year, with\nIrenice Horta, De Luca obtained an excellent\n<strong>seventh individual place at the WEG in Tryon<\/strong>.\nIn addition to these, there are many wins\nand placements in CSI and CSIO on the most\nprestigious international competitions.\nDe Luca he has been living and working in\nBelgium since January 2015, in Wolverten, as\na <strong>rider for Stephex Stables<\/strong>. Lorenzo\u2019s life is\nnow between Belgium and Florida, where he\nspends the winter months to take part in the\nWellington circuits and where he lives with\n<strong>his girlfriend Jessica Springsteen.<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"has-text-color has-very-dark-gray-color\">Dal gennaio 2015, Lorenzo De Luca vive e lavora in Belgio, a Wolverten, come <strong>cavaliere di Stephex Stables.<\/strong> Lorenzo alterna periodi in Belgio a periodi in Florida dove si trasferisce in particolare nei mesi invernali per prendere parte al circuito dei concorsi a Wellington e dove vive con<strong> la sua fidanzata Jessica Springsteen. <\/strong><\/p><div style=\"height:55px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>We interviewed him during this time of pause in<\/strong>\n<strong>the sport\u2019s world, a time which invites everyone<\/strong>\n<strong>to contemplation and resolutions.<\/strong><\/h3><div style=\"height:57px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div><p class=\"has-background has-very-light-gray-background-color\"><strong>After China, Italy was the nation most affected <\/strong><strong>by the virus and, therefore, the center of the <\/strong><strong>world\u2019s attention. <\/strong><strong>Have you been able to follow the evolution of <\/strong><strong>the situation?<\/strong>\n<strong>You move between Florida and Belgium, but your <\/strong><strong>family is in Italy: how do you cope with this? Do <\/strong><strong>you talk regularly? Are you worried?<\/strong><\/p><div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div><p>Well, of course I followed day by day the developing of the situation in Italy, a tragedy that found everyone unprepared. Unfortunately, many people are dead and continue to die. Inevitably there is a lot of concern and being away from my loved ones increases this mood. We talk every day and knowing that they are well reassures me. It is impossible to plan in the short term, but what do you see ahead of you after this forced stop? What are the horses you\u2019re going to ride with, the ones you will take chances on, and for which ones, even among the younger, you have longer-term programs?<\/strong><\/p><div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div><p>As much as competing is important for us, I\u2019d say that right now it is superfluous to think about it. What<\/strong>\n<strong>are you looking for in a horse when you first meet him? What are the qualities that strike you right away?
